Near Star Map



The following map is of the nearest 101 stars to Earth. It is based on the Gliese catalogue, but I originally drew it in 1997 or thereabouts and has not been updated with the Hipparcos data.

It is oriented so that the X-Y plane is parallel to the galactic disk, and the Z-axis points towards galactic North. Star size relates to height above the plane of the screen: the bigger the graphic, the higher the star.
